Vehicle-Borne IED (VBIED) Neutralization & Forensics Team

The Vehicle-Borne IED (VBIED) Neutralization & Forensics Team supports humanitarian crisis environments where explosive threats place civilian populations, responders, and critical infrastructure at immediate risk. The unit focuses on the safe assessment of suspected vehicle-borne explosive devices, blast-scene stabilization, and post-incident forensic support in coordination with authorized partners and relevant authorities.

Its mission is to help reduce loss of life, preserve operational access for emergency response, and strengthen evidentiary understanding of explosive events affecting conflict zones, urban centers, transport corridors, and high-risk public sites.

Core Functions

The team provides technical advisory support for suspected VBIED incidents, assists with threat-area assessment, contributes to blast-pattern documentation, and supports forensic review of fragmentation, delivery methods, triggering indicators, and associated material signatures. It also helps inform protective planning, incident reporting, and cross-unit intelligence coordination where explosive threats intersect with broader humanitarian or security risks.

Operational Relevance

VBIED events can disrupt medical access, displace communities, damage essential infrastructure, and create prolonged insecurity for local populations. This unit contributes specialized analytical and technical capability to environments where rapid interpretation of explosive risk is necessary to support life safety, continuity of operations, and informed follow-on response.

Forensic Support

Forensic support may include scene documentation, component identification, residue and material observation, pattern comparison, and structured reporting for partner review. The objective is to improve situational understanding, support lawful investigative processes, and help identify trends that may inform prevention, mitigation, and future response planning.

Coordination

The team operates within a multidisciplinary framework and aligns with broader crisis response, humanitarian protection, and technical risk-reduction efforts across Pacific 7.0 International. When appropriate, it complements related capabilities in post-blast analysis, hazardous response, intelligence support, and field intervention planning.
